Mini toys are a huge hit with kids

A large number of manufacturers following a craze that was started by Lego selling mini-figures in packs last year to huge success have started to sell the figures or plastic characters that retail for between £1 and £2. The mini figs as kids called them were very popular since children could buy an individual Lego person without having to invest in a complete set of Legos.

Since the kids did not know the figure inside large scale swapping on playgrounds started and was exacerbated since they were only on sales for a few months at a time. Sales of the figures have increased by over 12% in the first quarter of this year despite the toy market in general remaining stagnant. It is the fastest growing sector of the toy market and 20% of everything spent in Britain on toys.

Sales are crazy as everyone has jumped on the bandwagon says buying director Stuart Grant of The Entertainer chain of stores. Even thought the economic circumstances are what they are children are still going to get pocket money and since they are relatively inexpensive to purchase they can buy them each week and get something of good quality.

Containing a mystery toy, the pack, has been duplicated by Hasbro with its line of Kreo transformer figures that include Moshi Monsters which now sells the Moshling Monster packs. Lego’s closest rival, Playmobil, will start selling individual figures later in the year. One advantage to the toys is their small size makes for less use of plastic which is a quite expensive resource.
